Senior Staff Scientist, Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis
Develop, implement, and optimize new image processing and pattern recognition algorithms for verification, identification, and spoof-detection based on multispectral fingerprint images. Key player in the planning of tests performed on sizeable volunteer populations. Responsible for the analysis and interpretation of data generated in such studies. Use the findings from such studies and other experimental work to improve and/or verify algorithmic performance.
Works with
- Software engineering to implement computationally efficient algorithms
- Marketing to develop solutions meeting customer needs and product constraints
- Human testing to setup studies to evaluate and optimize performance characteristics
Professional experience
Minimum 8 years of relevant, post-degree industry and/or academic experience. Demonstrated capability of implementing a variety of image processing and pattern recognition algorithms. Familiar with data-driven modeling and statistical classification methods (e.g. discriminant analysis, Bayesian methods, support vector machines, neural networks, etc). Knowledge of linear and nonlinear image processing techniques. Ability to program in Matlab, C++, and/or other modern languages required. Familiarity with multispectral imaging desired. Familiarity with biometrics, particularly fingerprints, desired.

Education
Minimum MS in a relevant discipline; PhD preferred.

DSP Embedded Firmware Engineer
Develop embedded digital image/signal processing firmware for fingerprint recognition system. The successful candidate will work with algorithm designers to fully utilize the DSP architecture and resources to implement low latency image processing algorithms on embedded platforms for a variety of product lines.
Skills
- Significant expertise effectively using digital signal processor platforms, architectures, and development tools
- Experience with Blackfin (Analog Devices) digital signal processor platforms and architecture
- Experience optimizing DSP code to achieve speed requirements
- Extensive knowledge of C and assembly language
- Familiar with all aspects of software development life cycle
Professional experience
Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant industrial experience in embedded software development.

- System thinker—ability to address and solve system-level issues
- Diverse programming skill set
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Can quickly prototype code for proof of concept
Education
Minimum BS in a relevant discipline.
