Lumidigm has an open position for a Senior Imaging Scientist. Please read the following position description. Applicants may use the email form at the bottom of this page to submit a resume for consideration. Lumidigm is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
Responsibilities
Lumidigm’s differentiated biometric products and technology are based on collecting multiple direct optical images of fingers, hands and other body parts and combining these images to produce a single composite image that may be used for subsequent feature extraction, matching and/or other processing. We are looking for a Senior Imaging Scientist to join Lumidigm and lead the continuing development of this family of novel biometric sensing systems.
Professional experience
- 10 years of relevant, post-degree industry experience.
- Deep knowledge of and contributions to the state of the art in various methods of anisotropic image enhancement, image fusion, image segmentation and matting, image abstraction, the extraction of intrinsic image properties, scale space analysis and processing methods, video tracking, enhancement and processing, and differential geometry as it applies to image processing.
- Strong understanding of photometric stereo, stereo imaging, shape from shading, shape from color, and other imaging methods that may be used to estimate the 3-D characteristics of an object from one or more images.
- Strong understanding of the design, components, and principles of digital optical systems and especially silicon-based optical systems operating in the visible and near-infrared.
- Strong understanding of emerging systems, methods and participants in the field of computational imaging.
- Demonstrated ability to creatively combine novel optical systems and algorithms to achieve a desired and useful result.
- Understanding of optical interactions in the silicon regime with non-ideal, complex, heterogeneous materials such as human skin.
- Familiar with traditional and emerging methods of interest point extraction and matching.
- Familiar with biometric technology and especially technology based on dermatoglyphic patterns (e.g., fingerprints, palm prints)
Professional qualities
- Creative and innovative
- Goal-oriented problem solver
- Able to efficiently develop and optimize complex algorithms as part of a larger commercial system
