a Breakthrough Biometric Technology

Lumidigm's technology was conceived with a simple observation in the area of noninvasive optical measurements. While working on non-invasive glucose medical monitoring equipment at InLight Solutions, Lumidigm scientists and engineers discovered that each person's skin has a repeatable set of optical characteristics (see Skin Physiology). The researchers discovered light passes through every human's skin differently. Realizing the potential for significant advances in human identification, scientists further realized this technique worked equally well on any skin surface, including fingers, palms and forearms.

Based on these findings, Lumidigm, Inc. was established in July of 2001 as a separate, privately held, company, independent from InLight Solutions. Lumidigm engineers have built and tested prototype biometric systems. Studies using hundreds of subjects over multiple-month periods of time, demonstrate that Lumidigm's biometric performance is best of class. Lumidigm's technology advantage is protected by numerous United States and International PCT patents and applications.

Lumidigm is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the University of New Mexico's Science & Technology Park. Lumidigm partners include IDEO, US Air Force, a major entertainment company, several agencies within DoD, a major automotive component manufacturer, a large diversified equipment company, and a well-known firearms manufacturer.
